8th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilization (WCIT2026)

Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin took part in the 8th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilization (WCIT2026), held 21–23 July 2026 in Malaysia under the theme "Where everyone matters: pride & unity in Islam." The conference opened with an address by HRH Sultan Nazrin Shah on governance, education, health and Islamic finance.

Dr. Mohieldin joined a panel on development and cooperation alongside Tan Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz (former Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia), Prof. Noor Azlan Ghazali (Director, MINDA-UKM) and Mr. Nurhisham Hussein (Economic Adviser, Prime Minister's Office), moderated by Dr. Rais Ariff, founder of EMIR Research.

He discussed the impact of global geopolitical and geoeconomic dynamics on the Sustainable Development Goals, presenting a strategy centered on regionalization and localization to optimize the means of implementation — including finance and technology — for accelerating progress toward the SDGs by 2030.
