Africa's Financing Challenge

Dr. Mohieldin's participation in a series of meetings and conferences on investment, energy and development financing brought him back to South Africa, hosting events notable for their focus on practical solutions and engagement with domestic and foreign private investment.
The visit highlighted the role of women — through ownership and management of projects — in addressing energy opportunities and challenges, as part of the 4th Annual African Women Leaders Summit, attended by financial institutions, government representatives, regulators, private-sector companies, the United Nations and NGOs.
The trip also included a visit to the Nelson Mandela Foundation, at one of the sites that housed the great African leader in the 1990s, where Dr. Mohieldin met with development partners and experts in finance and sustainability. He also met with members of South Africa's Presidential Climate Commission, along with advisory firms and asset managers.
In a session co-hosted by Bloomberg and the Global Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), Dr. Mohieldin discussed global economic and geopolitical developments and opportunities for growth, investment and development in Africa with representatives of financial institutions, along with the implications of artificial intelligence and the cost of financing for competitiveness and project development.
